Online/Distance GEO and HIS Classes... Happy New Year!
Happy New Year, everyone! I very much hope that people have been enjoying their holidays. Please make the most of your last few days of the break: (It isn't over yet, right?!)
Just to let folks know, students will be receiving Teams notifications - they will be added to GEO or HIS teams and classes (meetings) will be scheduled and run according to the regular school schedule - within the next day or so. I will also be adding students to a group Outlook (WQSB) email list for their classes. Important information, materials, etc. will be delivered by Teams and by email, either the night before or the morning of class, so you will need to check before class to be ready for class.
Classes start up again on Friday, January 7 (Day 4). As of now, we are supposed to go back to the building for in-person learning on Monday, January 17. Regardless of whether we're working from home or we're in the building, remember this is still school. Attendance is taken and absences are emailed to the school a few minutes after classes begin. You are expected to participate and do the work. You may be evaluated and it counts for marks, just like in-person assignments, tests, etc. Any behaviors that would be inappropriate in an in-person classroom should be considered just as unacceptable in an online one.
GEO students will be starting on a new unit: Energy. Most students have the workbook already, but I will send scans of the workbook for those who didn't receive it before school ended before Christmas. For those who don't have the workbook, you can expect to receive it in your WQSB email accounts so that you can download and open the pages. This will allow you to follow along/participate in class.
HIS students will be starting the second (Red) workbook. Many students got this workbook before school ended, but those who were away the last day or two did not. Just in case, scans of the first chapter will be sent to your WQSB email accounts so that you can download and open them to follow along and participate in class. We will be fast forwarding almost a thousand years from the end of the Roman Empire to a period on European history known as the Renaissance...
Online learning isn't my favorite way of having class, but all we can do is make the most of the situation. I look forward to seeing you again online soon. I hope to see you again in class again sooner than later...
